  • Oct, 8 - Changeset [99] removed default html from applications navigation. From now any html should be provided by the application, meaning that views with the full html must exist on application’s repository. Changeset [102] created views that reproduce the same default html from version HyperDE 1.0.x. Repositories from 1.0.x must declare default views. For more information see CreatingDefaultViewsOnApplication.
  • Sep, 11 – Changeset [97] is the HyperDE version 1.0.0 release. This release has been made to tag a stable distribution of HyperDE. Main development changes are going to be made on subversion’s trunk directory. These changes are not compromised to be backward compatible and may lead to instable versions. Any bug correction or minor changes over version 1.0.x are going to be made on the directory branches/hyperde-1.0. For more details see RepositoryLayout.

  • Jun, 12 - The latest changeset [92] fixes the application start-up sequence. It also removes the meta-toolbar when in production mode (for that, start with 'script/server -e production'). Changeset [93] also removes the pre-compiled versions of the RJB library (as well as the auto-install code) since this library is now packaged as a gem, so it is more reliable to install it via 'gem install rjb'. The system also warns you when the JAVA_HOME is not set correctly. See HowToInstall for more details.
  • Jan, 8 - Greatly simplified repository configuration - take a look at: [91]. Now, just drop your .rdf file into the db/ directory and you're good to go.

  • Aug 23 - A running version of the demo site can be accessed at  http://server2.tecweb.inf.puc-rio.br:8000/hyperde/, choose "LabSite Demo" Reposistory, use "guest" without password as username.
  • Aug 2nd - Changeset [82] fixed a bug that would cause incorrect passing of parameters to some indexes.
  • Jul 21st - Changeset [75] fixes a serious bug that caused database corruption when international characters were used on the application. Recommended update for everyone, specially if you got error messages complaining about "iconv" issues. Note that if your database got corrupted by invalid characters previous to this fix, you'll have to open the .rdf file and remove all invalid characters manually. Sorry about that.
  • Jun 5th - Changeset [69] now allows you to pass the repository as a parameter to console, import and export scripts. No more database.yml tweaking when switching between repositories.
  • May 16th - HyperDE has received a "face-lift". Please update your working copies from our Subversion repository to get some half-dozen worthy bugfixes. (check [67] and the Timeline for details)
  • May 15th - A first version of a Tutorial is available. Please send comments and suggestions to .
  • May 13th - If you need help with the various expressions used in defining HyperDE model elements, look at the CookBook.
  • May, 9th - Restricted access structures (contexts and indexes) can now be defined in HyperDE. See [62] for details.
  • May, 9th - HyperDE runs on Intel-based Mac OS X. See HowToInstall page.
  • Mar, 31st - HyperDE now runs "out-of-the-box" on both Ruby 1.8.2 and the latest Ruby 1.8.4 on the Windows platform - see [53].

What is HyperDE

HyperDE (MVC framework and development environment for semantic web applications) is a combination of a MVC framework (built upon  Ruby on Rails) and a development environment for creating semantic web prototype applications.

HyperDE was built as the implementation task for the master thesis of  Demetrius Nunes and its modeling and process theory is based upon the  Object-Oriented Hypermedia Design Method (OOHDM) and the  Semantic Hypermedia Design Method(SHDM).

HyperDE is now a open-souce project. The latest version of the complete source code for the main trunk can be retrieved from its subversion repository at  http://server2.tecweb.inf.puc-rio.br:8000/svn/hyperde/trunk. If you prefer, you can download archived versions from DownloadArchives.
