Semantic Web Applications
Description

This research line focuses on the design and develoment of applications in the Semantic Web, where metadata is associated to available data. The approach used is to use the metadata as models to guide the application design. An environment supporting the principled design of semantic web applications is HyperDE.

One of the topics being investigated in greater detail are the Semantic Social Desktops, in which data available in individual desktops is enriched with metadata, allowing greater integration. In addition, this data can be shared among several users. The social semantic destkops can be seen as a particular case of Social Software, that includes blogs and wikis.
